Power in Empathy

JENNIFER S. RICHARDS

Jennifer Richards gets people. Raised by a social worker and a seasoned trial attorney in the small town of Natchitoches, Louisiana, Jennifer learned two lessons that still inform her approach today: identify the root of a conflict and resolve it quickly at trial. She is about straight talk, efficiency, and problem-solving. And that is why leaders want Jennifer on their side in their most challenging and vulnerable moments.

After graduating at the top of her class from both Texas Christian University and the Baylor University School of Law, Jennifer began her career as a law clerk to the Honorable Priscilla Richman, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Later, she practiced in the trial department at an Am Law 100 firm as a member of their bellwether trial teams in nationwide product liability litigation. Since then, Jennifer has represented clients in every aspect of commercial disputes—from preliminary negotiations to jury trials, arbitrations, and appeals. Her experience includes health care litigation, partnership and employment disputes across multiple industries, defending qui tams, representing clients facing government investigations, and litigating commercial real estate disputes. She also serves as an adjunct professor at Baylor Law School.

Jennifer is married to Stewart Richards, a Dallas native and the director of real estate for a private equity firm. When they are not cheering for the TCU Horned Frogs or traveling, Jennifer and Stewart enjoy hosting friends and family at their home for an authentic Italian meal from Jennifer’s grandmother’s cookbook. Jennifer and Stewart have two sons, Bennett and Joseph. The Richards family are active members of The Grove at Highland Park United Methodist Church and Jennifer sits on the board for the Compass School of Texas.
